STUDENT FIRST Dialogue Series: Social Audit in Education

Conference room , Centre for Policy Reseach , Dharam Marg , Chanakyapuri

Social auditing is increasingly being accepted in development practice as an important tool to ensure transparency in the functioning of the government and to improve delivery of public services. The coming into force of the RTE Act presents an exciting opportunity to use lessons learnt from social auditing in areas like the NREGA and apply them in the field of education. The objective is to create a robust system of social accountability by making citizens aware of their entitlements and rights under the RTE Act and empowering them to demand the same.

Will social auditing work in the context of the RTE Act?
